POEM TITLE The Young Lad I Used To Know

POEM THE YOUNG LAD I USED TO KNOW

Two wee girls without a dad

Never to live the life they should have had

I knew him when he was but a lad

Just starting to make his way

He's grown up since

I didn't watch. To me he still a young lad

With his life still to build and wonders to see

To laugh, to love, to live.

Last night I heard of his sad passing

I can't believe it. My heart is breaking

For all those folks taken too soon

For children whose lives are forever chipped, if not broken

Getting the economy running is no use to him

His voice now will never be heard

But as a caring young man I'm sure he would say

Stay safe. The rest will have to wait.
