Poem no. 199

POEM TITLE

Exposed

POEM

I am devoid

Of all

Light.

Cleaved and

Exposed to the

Silent howling of

Blackness on Sea

At night.

Caught

Between granite

And the

Incoming tide

I am

Tethered to

Sand

Where the

Breakers

Collide.

I am paralysed.

There on

The shore.

Forged and

Forsaken

In this wild

Tidal war.

The scent of

Salt

Drawing

Sorrow’s breath.

Washed by

Waves

In the cold arms

Of death.
