POEM TITLE The ship that never sailed
POEM The ship that never sailed
Blackness-on-sea, 1453
A proud castle standing, square towards the sea
Lordly Crichtons built it to unnerve their foes
A great stone ship a-standing by the Forth
A garrison, a prison, an ammo store as well
Throughout it’s life, Blackness has had so many tales to tell
It’s seen off good old ‘Enry, but Cromwell caused their fall
And the scars are there to still be seen by all
Blackness-on-sea, Blackness-on-sea
Now thrust into the 21st century
Where all can come and marvel at the Forth’s majestic grace
And hear the tales that formed the Scottish race
Come and learn your history,
Come and breath the air
Come and feel the pride felt by every Scot Come and taste the ozone, enjoy a whisky tot But mostly come to Blackness and relish “The Lobster Pot”
