Poem No. 66

POEM TITLE Doomed

POEM

Walking the shore at sunset - awe inspired,

The past behind me, 'the ship that never sailed',

And the present in front, hulking red squeaking rails,

I sit wondering, the surroundings prompting me,

To decide which times are better, yesterday or today?

Nostalgia wins over, as I walk and as I ponder,

Given the roaring twenties this time around bring fearsome, apocalyptic thunder,

Up ahead a sunny restaurant breaks my reverie,

The sign above the door reads 'we're all doomed!'

... and I laugh jovially.
