Poem No. 70

Poem Title:

Return

Poem:

If you’re tired and weary and losing your

faith you must come to Blackness on sea As

you walk by the shore try to quiet your mind

And hear the wind blow through every tree

Worn down by the big and little things That

make up your history Let the longings that

surface in your battered heart Be carried away

by the sea Feel the sand and the grass and the

rock underfoot Restore your dignity You may

have forgotten yourself along the way But slow

down and soon you will see Let go of the titles,

the chores and the lists It’s enough for today

just to be Allow time for the simple things in life

like a lobster and a pot of tea Find yourself

among friends you don’t know Immersed in

community When you do, if you do, I promise

my friend You will learn what is means to be free
